If you like the Linspire / Freespire GNU/Linux distro, you might be interested to see that it has purchased its own building in San Diego. IMHO, this is good news for GNU/Linux fans, because it means that Linspire is succeeding well enough to commit to a new building. The link has a cool photo of the new building. I don't work for Linspire.

For a while, Debian was the community Linux darling. In its heyday, Debian was known for its strong moral point of view and its outstanding code. Numerous important distributions, such as Linspire, Knoppix, and today's most popular distribution, Ubuntu, have sprung from it. Things have changed.

Xgl, Xegl, Xglx, Aiglx... ever wondered what all this stuff does? Here's the definitive guide to understanding how this stuff actually works. Scroll to the end for some illustrative diagrams. It is heavily simplified for the layman, but even then, it can get a bit complicated for those of you who arent computer power-users. Its a neat read though, if you are interested in what XGL/ Compiz can do, and WHY it can do what it does. Feel free to check it out!

Heres a great tip that I found for Ubuntu. I've had my NTFS partition hanging out with win xp on it, and been dual booting for a while just to get to my old files. Now that I can mount my NTFS partition IN Ubuntu, I no longer have to switch back and forth. I think this might help a lot of you out there, check it out!

Well, after all the problems with Transmission and popular trackers like OiNK and Demonoid I decided to try something else. So after snooping around the Ubuntu forums I found about this relatively new client called qBittorrent. The client is way better than anything I've used before. It even has an inbuilt torrent search plugin...
